Family Recipe Series: Gayle’s Broccoli Salad

When I asked what you wanted to see this week, I had one request for Chicken Parmigiana. Then I saw that last week, my cousin Tricia shared a recipe for Chicken Parmigiana. And it’s the same one I have! Probably because it came from our grandma. So if you’re looking for that recipe, you can click over to Once a Month Mom!

Someone else asked about cabbage rolls. When I grilled my mom about the recipe, she gave me some very vague instructions and measurements. I think I’m going to have to actually make them in order to figure out a writeable recipe. Which is good for me (YUM!) but bad because Mr. V won’t eat them. Work party, anyone?

So this week I’ve decided to share one of my favorite recipes from my mother-in-law, Gayle. She is a great cook. This is one of my favorite recipes to take to a potluck (and what I took to our first Sunday School class party–the day after we visited our church for the first time!). Since it’s Memorial Day weekend, I thought this was only appropriate!

I generally love all kinds of broccoli salad, but this one just has the perfect mix of veggie, dressing, cheese, and BACON.

See the updated version of this recipe here.

  1. I LOVE stuffed cabbage. I haven’t made that in awhile, but now I am craving it.

And thanks so much for sharing the broccoli salad recipe. I’ve had this at parties but I’ve never made it myself. I’ll definitely have to try your recipe. It sounds so easy and good!

  2. Okay…I’ve got to start following your example and do some menu planning. Usually my husband calls me at work and asks what he needs to pick up on the way home. He does most of the cooking now, so I’ll have to see how we can do some of these menus. I like the broccli salad idea and will probably do it today.

Jessie, I know that you use Google Reader, can you post to blogs directly from there or do you have to go to the blog?

  3. This sounds good! Then again, you can add bacon, mayo and cheese to just about ANYTHING, and I’ll think it sounds good! 😉

I’m not linking up to the carnival again this week, but I hope to next week. We had a chicken misunderstanding at our house. 🙁 However, I did link to you in today’s post!
