Gotta love a holiday grocery ad! Lots of good deals to be had this week. For once, I am making up my own recipe to use the very best deals I can.

chicken thighs, .99/lb
corn, .25/cob
Kraft salad dressing, 1.50–plus use $1 coupon from
vidalia onions .67./lb
red potatoes 2.99/5 lb. bag
Near East couscous 1.10

Ranch Chicken Kebabs
Serves 6

1 lb. chicken thigh, cut up into bite-size hunks (.99)
1 Vidalia onion, cut into a very large dice (about .30)
1 lb. small red potatoes, quartered (or cut into large hunks if your potatoes are a little bigger) (.60)
2-3 T. ranch dressing (.04 if you use coupon on the dressing)
chili powder

Thread chicken, onion, and potato pieces onto long skewers, alternating order. Brush the kebabs well with ranch dressing. Let sit in fridge for about 30 minutes, long enough to let the ranch flavor set in a little. Take out; sprinkle with chili powder. Broil in oven until done or grill. Serve with grilled corn (or boiled or broiled) and couscous.

TOTAL $4.53

  1. I read your post at Money Saving Mom. I have 5 in my family and with work and coupons I spend about $100 per week on groceries, cleaning supplies, and tolietries. This includes my teenage girls make-up and stuff too. Good luck on your journey. You can do it.

  2. I also stocked up on the Near East couscous at Publix. I know I can buy it cheaper in bulk, but the convenience of the boxes/seasonings is perfect for summer.

Glad to see your story on Money Saving Mom!
