What I Wore Wednesday 6.12.13

I was kind of depressed last week when I surfed through the What I Wore Wednesday linky at The Pleated Poppy. I’ve had a newfound interest in looking decent. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m FINALLY not pregnant and don’t have any intentions to be anytime soon (or maybe ever). Maybe it’s just the need to feel put together in some area of my life. Or maybe I just want to make sure my husband is proud of me and finds me attractive.

But when I perused the linky for ideas, there were NO plus-sized bloggers to be found. What is up with that? Just because I am plus-sized doesn’t mean (a) I don’t want to look nice; (b) I can’t share pictures of myself; or (c) I am not cute. Because I am! (Or at least my husband says so.)

When I asked on the Facebook page, there was a resounding affirmative to me sharing pictures here for What I Wore Wednesday. Because there’s a lot of plus-size gals out there who want to dress nicely and need ideas.

So here we go …

Lucky brand ikat plus sized top

top: lucky brand ikat plus via Gwynnie Bee. navy pants: christopher and banks (similar). shoes: mossimo odell flats in gold

Wore this Saturday for hanging around at home and going out to dinner with my grandparents. LOVE this t-shirt that I got from Gwynnie Bee.

Investements II Wave Top PlusInvestments II Wave Top, jean capris

top: investments ii wave-texture striped top via Gwynnie Bee. pants: Lee Platinum Label denim capris. shoes: Teva Makena ballerina flats

I got this shirt from Gwynnie Bee to try out. I ADORE it, and I went out and found it at Dillard’s today so I could have it for my very own. (Gwynnie Bee is a plus-sized clothes rental sort of thing. I’ll have to explain it in another post.) It’s great to discover a brand that fits well and I really like.

These are my “pregnancy shoes” from this past pregnancy. Comfy, slip-on, yet kind of cute at least. They feel like tennis shoes but look more like flats.

I entertained some family at our apartment, and then went out to dinner with my family and my grandparents again!

ready for church with kids

top: Faded Glory from Goodwill. pants: INC via Ross a few years ago. tank: Christopher and Banks (similar – love their tanks!). sandals: Nine West. earrings: Lane Bryant, I think.

Libbie’s adorable dress is Hanna Andersson, found at a consignment sale. She is nutso about it.

This looks nicer in the picture than it felt on. I like sparkles and was therefore drawn to this shirt at Goodwill last year. The pants are too small now, though, and really need to take their own trip to Goodwill. They’re just much nicer than any other black pants I have that fit.

I wore this to church and then came home and threw on the yoga pants.

tank with ruffle: Covington (Sears). red pants: Mossimo. shoes: cheetah odell flats by Mossimo

This is my favorite outfit of the week. I have this ruffled tank in black and aqua and I’ve been wearing the heck out of them. The red pants are new … my first colored denim. And I am crazy in love with them. I bought a size up like the reviewers recommended and they are perfect.

I ran a zillion errands this day.

maxi dress

dress: Belk. cami: Bass. shoes: Payless a million years ago.

I felt better in this dress than I think it looks. Maybe just needs some shapewear. Or maybe not meant for nursing chest …

At some point in the day, I was wearing a
Lisa Leonard – ((together)) Necklace
too, but this pic was toward the end of the afternoon. I dropped off and picked up kids at VBS and went shopping with my sister.

So … what do you think?

  1. You are a cutie! Your hubby is right. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have no clothes. Like four shirts and three of them are probably maternity. So, I have started hitting the Target clearance rack once a week. My limit is $20. lol

Last week I found a really cute belted shirt dress for $13. Like you, I have a renewed desire to look nice or, at least, put real clothes on. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I’ll admit I’ve recently bought a good bit of clothes. Because I’m not pregnant, and everything I had was old, came from the thrift store, didn’t fit well, etc. Tired of feeling frumpy.

  2. You are beyond cute– love the curls and the dimpled smile!

Our definitions must vary greatly because I wouldn’t describe you as plus-sized. If memory serves, you are on the short side. ๐Ÿ™‚ My favorite outfit is the one with red pants. Such sass!

    • I teeter on the edge of plus size or not when it comes to clothes, but thank you.

I love the red pants too. They make me feel sassy. I need that to keep up with my 4 year old.

  3. I love the ruffle tank too. Which reminds me that I need to dig out a similar purple tank that I have.

I’m in a real rut with clothes these days. I have very few shorts / skirts / pants that fit but I fit in my non-maternity shirts just fine (I am not, as they say, highly endowed).

My jewelry collection is still miniscule (theft), so accessorizing is not happening much.

And then there’s the post-pregnancy hair loss that plagues me… I may have to do these WWW Wednesdays too. I need the motivation to figure this out and feel better. Sorry for the long post. I really just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Never apologize for long blog comments! Post-partum is a hard time. I think because I am plus-size it’s easier for some reason. I go back to my regular size fairly quickly, although as we all know things shift and change …

Still so sorry about your jewelry. ๐Ÿ™

  4. Yay! So glad you’re doing this! I adore that dress you have on! Love the pic with your kids…that style shirt is great on you!

And here’s more explanation points just because !!! haha

  5. If you aren’t following Hems for Her, and Wardrobe Oxygen, that’s a great place to start! Both identify as plus sized, and always look fantastic ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Though I’m not technically plus size, I link up with the Pleated Poppy and feel like one of the larger women there. I like the fashion and styles of all the thinner ladies and try to interpret it for a larger body style.
BTW, LOVE your coral skinny jeans!

    • Thanks! I’ll check out your site. I kind of teeter on the edge – sometimes I wear an XL, sometimes a 1X. But anyway, it’s good to know there are others out who feel confident enough to post pics!

  7. Hey! we shop at the same store: Good Will!!! And I am hefty also. (But I don’t have a blog.) It is good to see a pretty lady like you not be embarrassed about weight. I’m self conscious but it’s not as bad as it used to be. I am 66 and after 60….who cares!!!??? BUT, I am losing weight, very slowly, but losing. I got up to 300 and have lost about 30 lbs in the last 2 years, by changing the way I eat. I wish you well and hope God blesses you.
