Well, y’all, I don’t have much to share this week. I was teaching Vacation Bible School, and we had some crazy dress days. One day I wore this.

crazyjessie

You can’t get quite the full effect, because I was also wearing red jeans and two different flats: one leopard, one teal polka dot.

Other than that, I was packing, traveling, and hanging around at my parents’ house. I know, I should take pictures anyway, that’s what this is about. But I didn’t. Here’s the only pic I got:

Jones New York outfit

blouse: Jones New York (different pattern) via GwynnieBee. pants: Jones New York lean bootcut. shoes: Bass (sorta similar).

I wore this to dinner to celebrate my parents’ 35th anniversary (!). I bought these white jeans at a great price from Bon-Ton … but I’m wishing I had bought a size smaller. Once I wore them a few hours they were practically falling off. Argh. And now I’ve worn them, and all. Anyone in the market for a nice pair of brand-new Jones New York white jeans in 18W?

This top I got from GwynnieBee. I’ve seen several people explain that Gwynnie Bee is like Netflix for plus-size (well, size 10 and up – size 10 is NOT plus!) clothes. You can pick a plan with 3, 4, or 5 items at a time. Shipping is free both ways and you can keep the items as long as you want. I’ve had fun with my free trial from them. You should try it out, too! It’s a 30-day free trial, which is plenty of time just to try some nice brands and new looks and decide if you want to continue with the service. Their customer service is great, too.

Anyway, I like the material and pattern of this top, but I thought the cut was not right for me. I am too short-waisted for this kind of smocked-bottom top, I think (or maybe just too hourglass). I thought the sleeves hit at a funny place for me, too. I pushed them up a little.

But hey, since I can send it back, that’s OK!

With promises for more outfits next week, all my love.

Share and Enjoy

  1. The top is very cute, but I completely get what you’re saying. I’m very short-waisted and hourglass shaped, too, and that’s not my favorite style on my body. I just think that blousing OUT over the narrowest part (the waist) isn’t the most flattering look for hourglasses. 🙂

    • Yeah, I think that’s it! Plus because my hips are wider the smocked part tends to ride up a lot. I should know better! I have had a shirt like this forever that I wore because I loved the print … but it annoyed me each and every time. Finally put it in the Goodwill bag.

  2. Smocked bottom hems are of the devil. ::nods head vigorously:: Truth. We’ve got curves, and we should show them off. Now, a pretty smocked neckline and the top cinched in at the waist with a narrow belt, that’s another thing.

    • Yeah, me too, pretty much. I bought a pair of Ralph Lauren jeans recently thinking SURELY it would be different on a higher-quality jean. Nope.

My favorite jeans cost $17 and are from Wal-Mart. And they stay shapely. I should have just stuck with them.

  3. i think your outfit is smashing! and i definitely hear you on the poofiness of smocked-bottom-tops feeling weird on an hourglass (that’s me too) – but i think this one looks gorgeous :D.
