What I Wore Wednesday 8.21.13

We’re keepin’ it real here this week, y’all. No pretty church outfits. No GwynnieBee (I’ve canceled my subscription for the time being, sniff sniff). Here’s what I wear on a more day-to-day basis as a stay-at-home mom on the go.

First, the sort-of inspiration for the following outfit:

And now, me:

Purple gingham and navy

tank: Faded Glory. shirt: Lane Bryant. pants: Christopher and Banks. flats: Mossimo Odell in gold.

I pulled on this shirt, thinking I might give it one last chance, and it reminded me of this purple gingham and navy combo I’d seen on Pinterest. So I wore navy pants instead of jeans. I think the shirt is going to the donate box. It’s just not my favorite, the fit isn’t great, and I think I got it for free at Lane Bryant a few years ago anyway. Heh.

tank: Christopher and Banks. chambray shirt: Old Navy. shorts: Jones New York. shoes: ha! I promise I wore some during the day.

**As of 8/20/13, my chambray shirt is on sale for $12 in the remaining sizes. A steal!**

These shorts don’t look nearly as bad in the picture as I thought they would. They are one of those things that fit in the store but on they stretch out to be enormous. I feel like a 14-year-old boy with my shorts sagging down and showing my undies or something.

Bermudas are really the only shorts I feel comfortable wearing, though. And again, obviously they don’t look as bad as I feel like they do. Although I’m not sure I’d want to see them from behind.

I wore this hanging around my parents’ apartment, eating lunch, and shopping with the kiddos and my mom. Fun!

shirt: Izod. jeans: Vigoss. shoes: Teva Makena.

This is what I wore today to visit the Zoo and Aquarium they have in Greensboro, NC. These Tevas are great walking shoes, as comfortable as my tennis shoes but a little more stylish. This shirt is ancient and thin, but it gets the job done and at least is kind of interesting. I don’t wear a lot of pink but this purply-pink works well for me.

Obviously I just need a gigantic mirror like this one in my parents’ apartment so I can take pictures every day without bothering my husband to do it!

Can I tell you a secret? I’m almost down to my pre-Libbie weight. And I haven’t tried to lose it. Just nursing and eating healthfully for the most part. Nursing has never worked like that for me, so it’s kind of awesome. But I am getting to where my pants are falling off. And speaking of Fall, it’s coming soon. So if I buy new pants, what do you think would be good for Fall?

    • Thank you for commenting! I was beginning to think I must have been so boring this week no one could possibly comment. I never thought I would be into the chambray shirt, but I ADORE mine.

  1. I like the gingham shirt, but the accessory on your hip is the cutest thing ever!

If you’re looking for pants, skinny jeans are going to be around for a while. I read somewhere (cannot remember where, though) that tapered boot cut is in style, too. I definitely need to update my pants wardrobe. I was looking through mine, and with the exception of the 2 pairs of skinny pants (thanks, Kohl’s clearance!) I bought about three months ago, nearly all of my pants were purchased in 2008. Yes, 2008. How I wish that were a typo.

    • Ha! A LOT of my clothes are that old, although I tend to wear out jeans faster than that. I do love a skinny jean if it’s less than skintight. I can’t do the ones that are skintight to the ankle, but just slightly more straight.

Is it weird that 5 years ago you would have been condemned on What Not to Wear for wearing a tapered pant?
