When my friend Jill blogged about receiving a gorgeous custom dress from eShakti, I left a somewhat joking comment on her post about my desperate need for custom apparel.
You see, Mr. V and I both just have one sibling. We each have a sister. And both of our sisters up and decided to get married this summer. So we have a lot of wedding-related events going on. I wanted to find a dress I could wear to both my sister’s rehearsal dinner and my sister-in-law’s morning wedding.
But a few weeks ago, I went and tried on dress after dress at a department store. It brought me to tears. I am on the shorter side (5’3″), I am plus-sized, I am big-busted, and I am short-waisted. Even when I didn’t fall into the plus-sized range as a teen, I still had a difficult time ever finding a dress that fit right. Most of the time the arm holes hang halfway down to my waist, and I am lucky if I can find a dress that fits over my hips. I am not criticizing my body type – I am pretty OK with my body – it is just difficult for me to find a dress. Ever.
Jill encouraged me to e-mail eShakti and ask if I could review a dress for them, and they agreed right away. I was blown away by the beautiful choices. Their dresses are classy, stylish but a little retro. With Jill’s help, I picked this contrast-trim poplin dress. I love that it is feminine and the wrap top works well with my bust.
eShakti allows total customization of their items (it’s even free the first time you do it!). I decided to go with a short sleeve instead of a cap sleeve, which is more flattering to me. I had the length shortened so it would hit at my knee. I provided them with all my measurements and height so they could make the dress to fit me perfectly. And then I crossed my fingers!
And when it came, it fit perfectly. It may be the first time in my life I’ve been able to say that about a dress. Now I want to buy all my dresses at eShakti. I AM NOT JUST SAYING THAT. Seriously buying dresses has been traumatic for me, and the next time I am looking I am going to eShakti first.
These pictures are from my sister’s rehearsal dinner. Can’t beat the scenery, huh? I got so many compliments on my beautiful dress and I felt gorgeous. Thanks, eShakti!
If you want to order your own dress (or skirt, or top!), you can use the code JESSWEAVES for 10% off your order. (Expires 7/2/14.)
